Right, I'm off to do a bit of packing (snore) for my holidays (yay!), so expect not very much blogging from me in the next couple of weeks, as there's no room for my laptop in my suitcase (sorry, laptop!). Hope your holidays are luscious and lovely, whether you're off somewhere fantastic or lazing at home... Karen McCombie :c)

Had a great time this weekend – went off to a Scout Camp with lots of non-Scouts (just other families from our school, ie lots of Milly's buddies and their parents). Had a great time being lazy, stomping about in woods, watching small kids abseiling from a great height (I'd have a heart attack if I tried that!) and being an on-call spider wrangler [more>>]

Nope, that's not the happy sound of a bee meandering in my garden outside; it's the noise of the beard trimmer I just bought. And nope, you're quite right, I don't have a beard (Well, not last time I looked). The reason I've been buzzing around with a beard trimmer is... [more>>]

...for about a week! (Except I can't - got too much writing to do.) I'm completely shattered after helping organise Milly's school fair on Saturday. Who knew having fun could be that exhausting? I spent my whole time stressing that bouncy castles would deflate or small kids would get knocked out by... [more>>]

Had an amazing day yesterday – we had our second ever street party and it was wall-to-wall fun, from daft races (hey, I came second in the ladies egg-and-spoon race!!), to excellent talent (my Milly and her friends singing 'Don't Stop Believing') to dancing in the street till past midnight. And now I'm officially shattered! Got to start a new book tomorrow, so better get a good night's sleep. Karen McCombie :c) Zzzzzzzzz...

I'm v. tired – just finished writing my latest book, which meant early starts and long days and late nights. Feel like I need to snooze for a couple of weeks! Maybe I'll dig out the sunlounger and laze in the garden – but then I'd probably fall asleep and end up with sunburn. I know; I'll just treat myself to some carrot cake at the garden centre instead. Much less dangerous!! Karen McCombie :c)

Er, but only if you want to, of course! What I'm talking about is The Queen of Teen Awards 2010. To be honest, I only JUST found out they were happening again this year, and the closing date is the 14th of June (ie in about five minutes). So if you like my books, and fancy voting for me, you need to check out www.queenofteen.co.uk. Soon. Like, very soon. Ha!! Thangyoooverymuch... Karen McCombie :c)

Just back from a week in Spain, which was extremely lovely and lazy. The high point was going to a Rescue Donkey Sanctuary, where (of course) we ended up 'adopting'* a very old, very cute donkey called Petra. Aww! Anyway, can't talk long – too much work and laundry to do, plus lonely cats to pet! Karen McCombie :c) * Which means we sponsored it, not that we brought it home in the luggage to live with us...

Had an excellent time last night at the launch of the 'Queen of Teen' book, a compilation of short stories by authors such as Jacqueline Wilson, Meg Cabot, Cathy Cassidy, and, er, me! It's in aid of an amazing charity for vulnerable children called Kids Company. So buy the book and do some good! Here's a link for more info... www.piccadillypress.co.uk/teen/queenofteen.html Must scoot – it's late and I need to snooze... Karen McCombie :c)
