Yikes! On Monday, my WW2 evacuee novel ‘Catching Falling Stars‘ is up for an award… it’s one of 6 shortlisted for the Haringey Children’s Book Awards.
The others are ‘Strange Star‘ by Emma Carroll, ‘A Library of Lemons‘ by Jo Cotterill, ‘Cogheart‘ by Peter Bunzl, ‘The Imaginary‘ by A.F. Harrold and ‘The Best Medicine‘ by Christine Hamill.
Even if I don’t win, it’s going to be SO lovely to catch up with other authors. We’re like an endangered species, who never catch sight of one another very often….
It’ll also be great to see all the students from local schools at the event. Haringey is the London borough where I live, so I’ve been to lots of the attending schools to do events AND I’m Patron of Reading at one of them (hello Chestnuts!)
Anyway, maybe you could do me a favour… can you keep your fingers crossed for my little bookie-wookie, and wish it luck?
I’ll let you know how it goes!
