Grabbing the good news!

Yep, it’s been a totally weird year, but like everyone I’ve been making the most of every small pleasure and every bit of good news going. So I thought I’d share the most AMAZING Tweet about my pair of ‘Little Bird’ historical adventure novels. This compliment from a bookseller blew me away!

I absolutely loved writing these Victorian-era stories about Scottish crofter’s daughter Bridie. She might be small and slight for her age, but she is very determined, not letting the cruel landowner of her island home frighten her in ‘Little Bird Flies’, and bravely starting a new life in a new world, when her family emigrates to 1860s America in ‘Little Bird Lands’. (Published by Nosy Crow.)

And the second compliment ‘Little Bird Flies’ received recently is that reading charity BookTrust chose it as one of their BookBuzz selection for 2020. BookBuzz is a brilliant scheme that runs in thousands of schools in England and Wales, where Year 7s are offered a book for FREE. If any of YOU opted for ‘Little Bird Flies’, then why not drop me an email here with a review of it?

I’ll post again soon, and in the meantime, I hope you’re all making the most of your own small pleasures and grabbing hold tight of every good bit of news that comes your way!

I’ll leave you with a photo of my very BEST small pleasure… the purring machine that is Dizzy cat. She’s never far away from my lap – or my laptop!
