Gulps, gold stars and ‘St Grizzle’s’

*Gulp* A recent e-mail got me all twinkly in the eye department… a mum wrote to me to say how much her son loved my ‘St Grizzle’s‘ books. So far, so nice. But then came the bit that got me all snuffly…

“The thing is, Freddie’s dad and I split up a couple of months ago, and there hasn’t been much of a reason to laugh around our house recently. But when his dad bought him ‘St Grizzle’s School for Girls, Goats and Random Boys’ during the holidays, Freddie was laughing out loud reading it in bed. I was so curious to see what was so funny that I ended up
1. on the bed with him,
2. reading it alongside him
3. laughing out loud too, and
4. ordering ‘St Grizzle’s School for Girls, Ghosts and Runaway Grannies’ that night!

So thanks for writing books that brought a bit of brightness back into our home. They get a gold star from us!”

I am SO proud to be a brightness bringer! And I will wear my virtual gold star with pride…
