So, the Haringey Children’s Book Awards 2017 happened on Monday – and a packed day it was, with all we short-listed authors buzzing around doing workshops, chatting to students and yakking about our books. It was great for me, being a local author, to see SO many schools attending that I knew – especially the gang from Chestnuts Primary, where I’m Patron of Reading!
Here’s a photo (courtesy of Jo Cotterill’s camera and a helpful Heartlands student!) of the gaggle of authors attending… from l-r: Jo Cotterill (A Library of Lemons), me! (Catching Falling Stars), AF Harrold (The Imaginary), Emma Carroll (Strange Star), the award winner Christine Hamill (The Best Medicine), last year’s award winner SF Said (Phoenix) and Peter Bunzl (Cogheart).

Authors never get much of a chance to get together, so we were like giddy little kids during our breaks, yakking and swapping stories like crazy!
Anyway, although ‘Catching Falling Stars’ didn’t win, I was SO chuffed that Christine’s book ‘The Best Medicine’ scooped the prize. She read out a chunk and got us ALL laughing. Can’t wait to read it now!
